

More so than on other solo debuts from the group's members, Ironman contains references to the Nation of Gods and Earths. The album's music draws prominently on blaxploitation films and soul samples. Blige, The Delphonics and his fellow Wu-Tang Clan members: Raekwon, Cappadonna, RZA, Masta Killa, U-God, Inspectah Deck and Method Man. It includes guest appearances from The Force MD's, Mary J. Production was handled primarily by RZA, with the exception of one song produced by True Master. Recording sessions took place at Mystic Studios and 36 Chambers Studios in Staten Island, New York from July 1995 to April 1996. It was released on Octothrough Epic Records and Razor Sharp Records.
